Firm Origin:
Upon graduating from Dalhousie University’s School of Architecture in Canada, Christopher Manson-Hing returned to his native Trinidad and Tobago to begin architectural practice. His love for vernacular architecture, in harmony with its climate and geography, and utilizing local materials and prevailing skills, strongly influenced his approach to and philosophy of design. Relocating to Santa Barbara, California ten years later, he adopted this design approach at Lenvik & Minor Architects and at the renowned Appleton & Associates Inc. Christopher opened his own firm, Christopher Manson-Hing Architect, in 2001, which grew into Manson-Hing Architecture. The firm is located in downtown Santa Barbara, California. It offers architectural design and planning services, which include site evaluation and design.

Design Aesthetic:
Manson-Hing Architecture offers solutions that are elegantly distinctive, simple, efficient and innovative. The firm’s projects tailor detailing and material selection to building style and site, and draws on authentic detailing when projects dictate and always as a base for innovation.

Design Philosophy:
Manson-Hing Architecture’s design philosophy is governed by the ideas that every designed space, interior or exterior, has emotional power and that structures within a site should provide a uniquely beneficial spatial experience, celebrate the site’s natural beauty, and reflect sensitivity to climate, environment, and geography.

Commitment to Quality and Service:
Manson-Hing Architecture is committed to providing exceptional design and outstanding service. We work closely with our clients from project initiation to project completion to insure design integrity and cohesiveness of vision.
