A main house, guest house and exercise studio adorn this beautiful property on Lilac Drive, Montecito, which borders an environmentally sensitive riparian habitat. The site is sloped with expansive treetop and ocean views. Situated on the highest area of the site, the main house is oriented to take advantage of the views to the Channel Islands. Although the available level area was not large, we accommodated all the house’s main functions on one level with direct access off each room to either a courtyard or covered patio. Expansive glass doors and windows fostered strong connections between the interior and the landscape.
The architecture provides a regal presence on the site with a sense of timelessness and permanence. Whilst modern in execution, the residence is a collection of spaces that effuses romance.
